Alan Cumyn

Alan Cumyn is the author of a dozen wide-ranging and highly original literary novels, including human rights thriller and Giller Prize finalist Burridge Unbound and the beloved Owen Skye trilogy for middle grade readers (The Secret Life of Owen Skye, After Sylvia, and Dear Sylvia). Tilt was named one of the top young adult novels of 2011 in the U.S. by Kirkus Reviews and in Canada by Quill & Quire. A past Chair of the Writers’ Union of Canada, he teaches in the prestigious MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. He is a two-time winner of the Ottawa Book Award, and has also had work shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award and the Trillium Prize in Canada, and longlisted for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. Alan Cumyn lives in Ottawa with his wife, writer Suzanne Evans. He is currently the writer-in-residence at Berton House in Dawson City.
