Manuscript Guidelines
Specific Guidelines for Manuscripts
1. Manuscripts include poetry, short stories, creative non-fiction, graphic novels, novelettes, children’s stories, plays, or songs.
2. Manuscripts may be illustrated.
3. Manuscripts should be on 8.5 X 11 with standard margins.
4. Each manuscript needs a cover page. Include the title, your full name, grade, school, and teacher contact.
5. Poetry and song-writing submissions should be minimum 25 lines – may consist of more than one poem or song.
6. Other manuscripts should be seven pages or less.
- Prepare an original print manuscript in any of the following genres: poetry, fiction, drama, creative non-fiction, songs or a children’s story.
- Students may work individually, or in pairs (author and illustrator for example on a children’s story).
- Manuscripts must be written during the current school year.
- Manuscripts may be submitted to Ms McDowell by April 8, 2020.
- Teachers, please email [email protected] or [email protected] by Monday April 6, 2020 with the names, grades and teacher’s name of the students who wish to attend.
