Jamella Hagen’s first collection of poetry, Kerosene, was published by Nightwood Editions in 2011. Her work has won the Ralph Gustafson Poetry Prize and been shortlisted for a CBC Literary Award. She is a former executive editor of PRISM international, a recent guest editor of The Northern Review, and is as a two-time recipient of the Yukon Advanced Artist Award. Her writing has appeared in journals and anthologies including The Malahat Review, Refugium: Poems for the Pacific, and The Best Canadian Poetry in English, 2010. She lives in Whitehorse, Yukon with her partner Justin and her son Rowan, and teaches creative writing at Yukon College.
